As a social enterprise, these are the goals that are at the forefront of our sustainability efforts. We're committed to decolonizing society’s approach to bodies, birth and breastfeeding by making choices that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

Responsible Consumption and Production
The global material footprint has increased by 70% between 2000 and 2017 and is continuing to grow. At Mayana Genevière, by designing, manufacturing, and shipping all of our products locally, we are one step closer to help reduce the global material footprint. We are a slow fashion brand that promotes investing in quality timeless essentials and we produce garments in small batches or made to order to reduce waste.

Reduced Inequalities
As a social enterprise, we believe in the inclusion and representation of all people and this is reflected in our team, on our social platforms, in our development, production, marketing partnerships, and supply chain.

Gender Equality
As a women owned and operated social enterprise, we have a long history of advocating for gender equality and Women’s empowerment. We use our platform to raise awareness for issues that disproportionately affect women and provide resources and inspiration to support Women in advocating for themselves.

Climate Action
We prioritize the use of natural and sustainable materials in our sourcing. By using recycled materials to make new products, we reduce the need for virgin materials. This avoids greenhouse gas emissions that would result from extracting virgin materials which contribute to the growing greenhouse gas and global warming concern.

Good Health and Well-being
Through our platforms we educate Women on the importance of physical and mental well-being with a focus on postpartum healing, breastfeeding awareness, maternal mortality,, while also educating around censored and taboo topics for women. We educate, empower, and support Women with resources from industry professionals.

Partnerships for the Goals
We exclusively work with suppliers who share in our commitment to sustainable production and in the ethical treatment of people, and planet. We’re a member of Ryerson’s Social Venture Zone that’s a community of social ventures working toward creating real impact.

Decent Work & Economic Growth
We continue to partner with local Universities and Colleges to provide on-the-job training for students of all backgrounds to develop their skills and grow with us. We have close relationships with all our suppliers to ensure that all employees in our supply chain are working in safe working conditions and receive fair wages.

Clean Water & Sanitation
Our materials are OEKO-TEX certified meaning all of our materials are free from hazardous chemicals that can impact water streams. We work to reduce our water footprint by sourcing sustainably produced organic cotton, and by working with production plants that go the extra mile by using reclaimed water in their processing with low impact dyes. We also use Tencel Modal and Tencel Lyocell which is made from sustainably sourced wood that requires less energy and water than conventional cotton. As a plant-derived fibre, Tencel is also biodegradable.

Life Below Water
We don’t use any harsh dyes in our materials which protects the health and safety of textile workers, and protects life below water. Our factories exclusively use eco-friendly dyes on our undergarments.
